Overview
Allen Associates was engaged to deliver the process design and commissioning for the new Edinburgh Gin distillery, located in the unique and highly constrained Waverley Arches site in the heart of Edinburgh. The project demanded a design that balanced efficient spirit production with an engaging visitor experience - all within the limitations of a historic, tight urban location.
Scope of Work
- Distillery Layout Design: Applied in-depth expertise in distillery layout to meet both production requirements and visitor flow needs.
- Process Safety Compliance: Working to ensure the plant met all relevant process safety standards, despite significant space constraints, visitor planning and the complexities of a city-centre installation.
- Commissioning: Led the commissioning of all process equipment, ensuring smooth startup and optimisation of production.
- Collaboration: Worked hand-in-hand with Ian Macleod Distillers to ensure every design and operational choice aligned with brand vision and operational targets.
