ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme)

Monday, 22 December 2014

Allen Associates is now an approved ESOS Lead Assessor via the Institute of Chemical Engineers.  Scott Allen passed the IChemE’s training course in London which means AA is now able to provide a complete ESOS energy assessment and energy auditing package.

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme Regulations (ESOS) is a new UK scheme that mandates large organisations to save energy. It does this by requiring that organisations undertake regular assessments to identify cost-effective energy saving measures on supplies to buildings, industrial processes and transport.

ESOS came into force in July 2014 and applies to all organisations that:

  • Employ at least 250 persons; or have
  • An annual turnover of above  €50 million (approx £42.5 million) and
  • An annual balance sheet above €43 million (approx £36.5 million)

All qualifying organisations have until 5 December 2015 to confirm compliance.  One route to compliance is to carry out an ESOS compliant assessment and subsequent audit of the energy usage.  All organisations that are not fully covered by ISO 50001 will need a qualified Lead Energy Assessor to undertake, oversee or sign-off their ESOS assessment.

Allen Associates are Chartered Chemical Engineers and qualified Lead Energy Assessors and thus are qualified to carry out and sign off the ESOS Assessment and subsequent energy audits.  Contact us for more information and how we can help you comply.
